The United Methodist University has joined a global collaborative research on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in higher education. The research is being led by the University of Barcelona and titled: “Global Students Perspectives on Learning with Generative Artificial Intelligence in Higher Education: A Cross-Cultural Study.”

The UMU is part of over 100 universities globally participating in this research . This global study brings together the voices and experiences of higher education students across diverse countries, cultures, languages, and educational contexts. By examining how students engage with GenAI in their learning, the study aims to uncover global patterns, cross-cultural differences, emerging opportunities, and critical challenges that are shaping the future of higher education in the age of Generative AI.

Accepting the invitation to participate in this global research, Prof. Sam Togba Slewion, Director of Research and Institutional Development, noted that.” We have no doubt that this will not only enhance our knowledge about the concept, Artificial Intelligence in the academic space, but will enable our institution to contribute new knowledge in this subject matter.”

Meanwhile, the Department  of Research and Institutional Development has shared the link for the study with various colleges of the UMU for onward dissemination to chatrooms of students in their various college to enable them to participate in the research. See the link below and encourage interested students to put the link in a browser and participate.
