
Dr. Emmanuel F. Bailey is currently the Seventh President of the United Methodist University in Monrovia. He was also the First and Third President. He served as Conference Council Director (Program Administrator) of the Liberia Annual Conference; Executive Director Team for Justice (Detroit, Michigan; Instructor at S. Steward Mott Adult High School, Flint, Michigan (10 years) and William Tindale College in Farmington Hills, Michigan (7 years). He was President of the African Association of Michigan and Liberian Association of Michigan. He is listed in “Outstanding Young Men of America”, “Who’s Who in Religion”, and “Outstanding People of the 20th Century”. He is author of the following books: “I Want to Help but How”; “Caring for Those Who Grieve”, “When You Pray Say….”; and “The History of Methodism in Liberia”. Rev. Dr. Bailey also served United Methodist Churches in Ohio and Michigan for twenty-five (25) years. He was Chairman of the Division of Health and Welfare, Board of Global Ministry, DAC.
Dr. Bailey spent his childhood in Liberia. He attended college in Detroit; he earned an Associate of Science Degree in General Science from Highland Park Community College. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Social Science Education from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan, and his Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. After completing his Master of Divinity Degree at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, he earned a Doctor of Ministry Degree in Counseling Psychology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore, Maryland; and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (Ph. D.) in Pastoral Psychology from Graduate Theological Foundation, in collaboration with University of Oxford summer school in Theology (U.K.).
Emmanuel is married (47 years) to Taylorie Major-Bailey; this union is blessed with two (2) children.
